Bio-Alai Learning Collective
The Bio-Alai Learning Collective provides comprehensive, evidence-based education in nutritional and integrative approaches to aesthetic practice. Developed and led by Dr Agnes Warchalowski, a pioneer in the use of nutrient therapies in aesthetic practice in Australia and a lecturer at University College London, the Collective offers unbiased courses designed to empower practitioners with knowledge, not products.
Through in-depth modules, clinicians explore topics such as the gut–brain–skin connection, perimenopausal skin changes, metabolic regulators of skin health, injectable nutrients, and the role of nutrition in longevity and aesthetic outcomes. Each program draws on current research, clinical insights, and practical strategies, helping practitioners recognise systemic drivers of aesthetic concerns and implement safe, holistic, and personalised interventions.
The Bio-Alai Learning Collective supports doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to distinguish their practice in a competitive field, build confidence in nutritional aesthetics, and deliver enhanced outcomes for patients.
Our educational materials are not sponsored, nor do they promote Bio-Alai products. Instead, they provide practitioners with independent, evidence-based insights to deepen expertise and support informed decision-making in clinical practice.

Foundational Nutrient Therapies Course
Nutrient Therapies in the Aesthetic Setting is the first course of its kind in Australia. An in-depth, eight-module online course designed for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and dermal clinicians. The course brings together current research in longevity, epigenetics, personalised nutrition and precision medicine.
The central theme evolves around the role of the gut microbiome in human health and disease. Each module provides a deep dive into:
The central theme evolves around the role of the gut microbiome in human health and disease. Each module provides a deep dive into:
- The complex interactions between the microbial world and the human body, including immune system function, detoxification, metabolism, mitochondrial function, hormones and brain health.
- Key clinical contexts including inflammatory conditions, aesthetic presentations in perimenopause, metabolism and weight management, gut-brain-skin health, and the hallmarks of ageing in disease models.
- Clinical application of oral and injectable nutrient therapies across several health and aesthetic indications using key physiological processes as treatment targets.
- Evidence-based frameworks for safe and effective integrative aesthetic practices.
In a rapidly growing and increasingly competitive field, the program offers practitioners the knowledge and tools to distinguish their practice through a holistic and scientifically grounded approach to patient care.

Single Module Options
For those seeking focused learning, individual modules are also available. Each single module provides a comprehensive summary of a key topic relevant to
aesthetic practice. They are designed for practitioners who want focused learning, either as a standalone educational experience or as an introduction to the full eight-
module course.

Module 1

The Gut–Brain–Skin Connection
This module, originally prepared for University College London, explores the intricate communication network between the gastrointestinal system, the nervous system, and the skin. The gut–brain–skin axis has become a central focus in understanding the systemic drivers of aesthetic and dermatological conditions.
This module focuses on mediators of gut-brain-skin signaling pathways linked to common skin presentations such as acne, rosacea and psoriasis. By addressing these pathways, practitioners can move beyond symptomatic treatments to target underlying mechanisms that contribute to both skin health and overall wellbeing.

Module 2

Aesthetic Presentations in Perimenopause
Perimenopause is a period of profound hormonal, metabolic, and inflammatory change that directly impacts the skin, body composition, and overall wellbeing. This module, originally prepared for University College London, provides a comprehensive overview of the physiological shifts that underpin aesthetic changes during this stage of life, with an emphasis on how practitioners can support both aesthetic and systemic health through evidence-based interventions.
During perimenopause, the natural decline in oestrogen has a profound impact on skin and overall health leading to reduced collagen and elastin, drier and thinner skin, impaired barrier function, pigmentation changes, and shifts in fat distribution. These hormonal changes also interact with metabolic and inflammatory pathways, contributing to weight gain, reduced muscle mass, and increased inflammation. At the same time, many of the biological hallmarks of ageing - such as mitochondrial
dysfunction, oxidative stress, and cellular senescence - become more apparent, creating clear targets for nutritional and lifestyle interventions that can support both aesthetic outcomes and systemic wellbeing.

Module 3

Injectable Nutrients in Aesthetic Practice
Injectable nutrient therapies are an emerging area of interest in aesthetic and integrative medicine. While oral supplementation remains foundational, injectable delivery can be considered when rapid repletion, enhanced bioavailability, or targeted therapeutic effects are required.
This module provides a comprehensive overview of the evidence base, safety considerations, and clinical applications for commonly used nutrients in injectable form: Vitamin D, B-vitamins, Vitamin C, Glutathione, NAD⁺, and NAD⁺ boosters.
Unlike other courses, this is an independent overview of injectable nutrient therapies, ensuring that you receive unbiased information on their role in aesthetic and integrative medicine.
